SneakerSkins - Custom Kicks
I’m an 18 year old and an up and coming female sneaker designer. I didn’t really start getting into sneakers when I was in my sophomore year in high school, I always loved the different designs and brands, never could afford all the expensive brand names like everyone else.
I wanted to design my own and started that in December of 2006, and have already progressed this far. The custom sneaker game is mainly male dominated, just like in Hip-Hop, and there’s not too many females around my age doing what I do. It’s really nice having something that no one else has, and when people come up to you in the mall and are like, “where’d you get those?”
It’s a blessing being able to create a work of art on a pair of sneakers. Gaining clientele, friends, etc. People will respect you for what you do, or they can simply envy you. When it comes to art, there’s no limit, just like Picasso, Van Gogh and Andy Warhol, being creative and just thinking outside the box. Most sneakers that you want, you can’t find in stores, thats why I put my own thoughts onto shoes. I’m also into creating sneaker canvas’ as well. When you view my site, there’s different types of designs you’ll see, it’s not all the same designs. I want something basic and complex, just to satisfy the customers needs.
uniQue de$igns is my company name, being uniQue and standing out from the crowd is what my main thing is to do. I don’t stick to one type of
custom or design, everything is different, and also try and design different brands of sneakers as well. “Art is one of the few things left worth doing…”
